UNIQUE PROGRAM FEATURES
Small Classes
Approximately 8-12 participants per program
Unlike other similar programs, we accept only a limited number of participants in each program.
A small class guarantees many opportunities for interaction between the participants and faculty, and encourages
maximum participation during classes and workshops.
Outstanding Faculty
All classes are taught by prominent law professors and lawyers with real-world expertise and extensive teaching experience
Classes and workshops are taught by a core faculty of experienced lawyers
and distinguished professors from leading law and business schools. Guest
law faculty include lawyers from law firms, corporations and government who
lead classes on special areas of interest. Often, guest faculty are
scheduled after the programs begin, based upon requests from participants who
would like to learn more about a specific topic.
English language classes are taught by highly qualified ESL (English as a
Second Language) instructors and lawyers.
Interactive Teaching Method
Lively classroom discussions and problem solving
Instead of lecturing from the front of a large room, the instructor sits together with the students around a
conference table. Professors use the Socratic teaching method characteristic of legal education in the United States, where
students learn by engaging in active dialogues with the professor. In preparation, participants will be assigned
readings, cases and problems from textbooks written specifically for foreign lawyers and law students. Lively classroom
discussions and problem solving dominate the classes.
Practical Workshops
Useful exercises and actual business scenarios emphasizing oral and written legal communication
Workshops are practical exercises designed to help participants improve their written and oral legal communication
skills in English. The exercises emphasize useful lawyering skills and are conducted by lawyers with extensive experience
in particular areas, such as negotiation, trial advocacy, mediation, contract drafting, and various forms of legal writing.
Flexible Curriculum
Custom-designed classes and workshops that meet the needs and interests of participants
The programs are designed to satisfy the professional needs and interests of
senior lawyers as well as junior associates and law students. Most classes
focus on U.S. business law topics while providing numerous opportunities for
participants to improve their written and spoken English communication
skills. Those who work with U.S. lawyers, represent U.S. clients or plan to
study at a U.S. law school have found the programs to be extremely useful.
Participants from diverse backgrounds have consistently evaluated the classes
and workshops as both challenging and worthwhile.
World-Class Participants
A unique opportunity to form professional and personal relationships with lawyers from around the world
The programs are designed for non-U.S. lawyers who are interested in
learning about the legal system of the United States or want to communicate
in English more effectively and confidently in a legal or business
environment. Law students have also participated in the programs with great
success. After the programs, participants often attend graduate law programs
(LL.M.) at U.S. law schools.
